  • National Girl Child Day observed.
    The 24th of January is celebrated as the National Girl Child Day to spread the awareness about the inequalities a girl child face.
  • RBI amended a regulation on 'Export & Import of Indian Currency'.

    A regulation on 'export & import of the Indian Currency' by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) permits the individuals to carry Rs. 1000 and/or Rs. 500 Indian rupee notes to Nepal.
  • SBI signs a loan agreement with European Investment bank worth 100 million euros.

    India's largest public sector bank, State Bank of India, has signed an agreement with European Investment Bank for a loan of 100 illion euros. The bank will lend it to the private businesses in the country.
  • Saraswath Menon appointed as advisory to UN peace-building architecture.

    Indian academic, Saraswath Menon, is appointed as one of the expert to a panel of seven to review UN peace-building architecture. The panel will conduct policy and institutional reform. Anis Bajwa (Pakistan), Charles Petrie (France), Edith Grace Sempala (Uganda), Funmi olonisakin (Nigeria), Gert Rosenthal (Guatemala)
    , and Sahel Sahara Ahmedau Olud-Abdullah (Mauritius) are the other six panelist.
  • Sunil Sood to lead Vodafone's Indian operations.
