Russia signs agreement with Cyprus to allow use of ports.
Russia and Cyprus signed an agreement to allow Russian navy ships access to Cypriot ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
Union Cabinet approved setting up of 15000 MW solar projects.
The Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of 15000 MW of grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic projects under the National Solar Mission.
Indian Railways sign MoU with Mumbai University.
The Indian Railways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Mumbai to setup a Rail Innovation and Technology Centre.
Suresh Prabhu presents Rail Budget 2015-16.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu presented the Rail Budget 2015-2016 in the Lok Sabha on February 26. He has increased the budget by 52% from the previous Rs. 65789 crores to the present Rs. 100011 crores. Salient features of the Rail Budget are as follows :

  • No increment in passenger fares was announced, but there would be an increase in freight charges.
  • Tickets can now be booked 120 days in advance instead of the erstwhile 60 days.
  • 400 railway stations will be Wi-fi enabled.
  • E-catering introduced in 108 trains can now be accessed by ordering on IRCTC website.
  • CCTVs will be introduced in selected trains and suburban trains for the purpose of Women's Safety.
  • All India 24x7 grievances helpline 138 will be started.
  • Operation Five Minutes will be introduced to produce a ticket within 5 minutes for Passengers travelling unreserved.
  • Train Collision Avoidance System and Train Protection Warning System will be installed on select routes at the earliest.
  • To move towards paperless ticketing, hand-held devices will be introduced for ticket checkers.
